Harbour Key provides business advisory, accountancy and tax services to a range of entrepreneurial businesses and high net worth individuals, including non-UK domiciles. We are looking for an Accounts and Tax supervisor to join our busy Business Compliance Service Team in Cheltenham, with primary responsibility for the preparation of accounts and tax returns (both company and personal).

You will work closely with our directors and play a pivotal role in the continued growth of Harbour Key. 

Successful candidates will have several years’ experience in accounts preparation and business and personal tax, and be able to work both autonomously and as part of a team. You will have the opportunity to help us develop the business compliance team and will be responsible for two other members of staff who work in the team.

 Responsibilities

  • Preparing company and sole trader accounts;
  • Completing and submitting self-assessment tax returns, including managing the collation of client information;
  • Preparing and submitting company annual returns;
  • Providing general support to clients’ tax computations and advising on payment logistics and timing;
  • Liaising with HM Revenue & Customs;
  • Liaising with clients and building relationships;
  • Producing client progress reports;
  • Updating our Digita client database and client files;
  • Tax and accounting technical research;
  • Administration to support all aspects of our accounting and tax services.

 Qualifications and experience

  • ACCA/ACA qualified (or equivalent) or qualified by experience;
  • Strong numeracy skills;
  • Experience of managing a Tax Return cycle;
  • Strong communication skills;
  • Microsoft Office skills: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook;
  • Xero and Digita accountancy software experience preferred but not necessary as training will be provided.

Terms of employment

  • Working week: Monday to Friday 37.5 hours per week (with an hour for lunch, although this can be flexible).  Reduced hours will be considered
  • Salary dependent on experience and qualifications
  • Three month probation period
  • 25 days holiday (to include office closure over the Christmas period) plus bank/public holidays.
